Mentorship embodies so many virtues, it's no surprise that its laid the foundations of nations the world over. Or how else do we think knowledge and wisdom has been transferred through the ages, when universities and the internet didn't even exist? The forgotten art, of investing oneself in the life of another, is a huge need among a younger generation, desperate for meaning, a purpose and a place. This is perhaps no truer, than in South Africa today, where almost 60% of its youth remains unemployed, and a large % thereof unemployable. Without a drastic intervention from those already plugged into knowledge networks and the local economy, we are simply participating in the downfall of a nation.
